Programme Essentials
To join one of our 12-month Internships you must meet one of the following criteria:
- You’re currently an undergraduate studying at University and returning to full time education in Autumn 2027
- You’re looking to gain work experience after completing your A-Levels, an equivalent course or an Apprenticeship
Additionally, you must be eligible to work in the UK without restriction for the duration of the internship from Monday 29th June 2026 – Friday 23rd July 2027.
Willingness and flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern which includes early starts, evenings, overnights, weekends & bank holidays.

What will I be doing?
The intern role is designed for gaining a broad understanding of an American TV newsroom. You will work with newsgathering and production teams within the NBC News bureau in London. Your development and the training you will receive will focus on all aspects of the 24-hour newsroom operation: from the assignment desk to the edit room.
What will I learn from this opportunity?
Multiplatform International Newsdesk: Supporting the assignment desk in logistics, coordinating correspondent live hits, video feeds and providing editorial support for key shows such as Today, Nightly News and on NBC News Now plus social platforms.
NBCNews.com: Research and write breaking news articles and contribute to live blogs, as well as learning digital video production skills.
Social Newsgathering: Assist team in finding, verifying, and reporting on visual content and eyewitness accounts that emerge on social media, to support storytelling across all NBC News platforms.
Engel Unit: Support the producers of NBC News’ Chief Foreign Correspondent Richard Engel – learn how they prepare for assignments ahead of deployment and how they produce Richard’s reporting across all NBC News platforms.
Media Desk/Archive: Supporting the producers & librarians with picture research, logging & editorial information gathering.
Qualifications
What do I need to bring to the role?
- Curious, keen to learn & enthusiastic about television news
- Desire to pursue a career in journalism
- Awareness of news & current affairs
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Creative, proactive & ability to work under pressure and with potentially distressing images
- Organized & strong attention to detail
- Willingness to be involved, whatever the task and appreciate being part of a larger production team
- Ability to work with and maintain sensitive information
- Excellent IT skills & familiarity with social media
- A good understanding of Avid or Final Cut is desirable
