Stantec’s New England Transportation group is looking for a bridge intern or co-op in Portland, Maine for Summer 2026!    

We are looking for an individual that is passionate about improving our communities through the thoughtful planning and design of transportation systems and infrastructure. This person will use their creative abilities to propose ways to enhance multimodal connections, prioritize equity and accessibility, and make roadways and bridges more adaptive and resilient to climate change. This role is a dynamic and exciting opportunity for an individual looking to work collaboratively as part of a project team and gain a better understanding of the project development process for bridge projects of varying scale and complexity. 

What Will You Be Doing?  

  • May assist project teams and administrative staff by preparing or compiling studies, memos, reports, spreadsheets and graphs, drawings, calculations, research and other tasks in support of various transportation projects. 
  • May assist project managers with tasks designed to understand the project management process and internal frameworks. 
  • May include some fieldwork assisting with data gathering for various projects. 
  • Other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned to support the team. 

What Will You Need to Succeed?  

  • Must have good organizational and time management skills, be punctual, reliable, detail oriented, and capable of taking initiative and working independently when needed. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in both office and virtual environments. 
  • Microsoft Office experience required. 
  • Experience with AutoCAD or Civil 3D, Microstation or OpenRoad Designer, ArcGIS, and/or Adobe Creative Suite software is a plus. 
  • Previous internship or co-op experience in similar type work or office environment is a plus. 
  • Willingness to perform field work, as needed.  
  • Must be a college student working towards a bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering.
