Job Description

AECOM Hunt is seeking Digital Technology / Drone Pilot Apprentice to join our Construction Management team in Los Angeles, CA.

Job Responsibilities will include but not limited to supporting field engineers or surveyors. Interns will supplement project workflows by:

  • Conducting supervised drone flights using DroneDeploy flight paths to capture site imagery and video for:
    • Existing site conditions
    • Excavation and earthwork tracking
    • Foundations and footing layout verification
    • Steel erection sequencing
    • Decking, rebar, and formwork documentation
    • MEP in-deck utilities and conduit verification
    • Pad placements and underground utility tie-ins
  • Processing drone data into deliverables (orthomosaics, 3D models, point clouds, volume reports).
  • Uploading deliverables into Hunt’s construction management platforms (Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Revizto, Navisworks, DroneDeploy).
  • Supporting QA/QC by documenting as-built conditions before cover-up.
  • Maintaining consistent flight logs, equipment checklists, and photo/video archives for project records.

Additional tasks based on project requirements and team needs, Interns will also receive training and contribute to:

  • Clash Detection Reviews in coordination platforms.
  • Jobwalks to verify as-built conditions.
  • Acting as a site safety officer 100% of the time while on-site.
  • Producing jobsite imaging for project documentation.
  • Reviewing issue lists generated by VDC Managers or Superintendents and assisting in action planning.
  • Supporting the team through multiple documentation methods including 360 photos, laser scans, drone flights, video, and photo documentation for data retrieval — including existing condition documentation and progress tracking for new and ongoing construction activities.

Internships are designed to introduce and build essential hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Qualified candidate(s) must be enrolled in a construction technology program to include FAA-certification with drone piloting skill.
  • 2 semesters (270 instructional hours) on aerial data capture, site documentation, OSHA safety training, and classroom knowledge in drone operations.
  • Must have a valid U.S driver’s license and as a condition of employment, must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • FAA 107 Certification
  • OSHA 10-Hour Safety Certification
