Cloud Software Engineering Intern

NI is now the Test & Measurement (T&M) Business Unit of Emerson, and we are seeking a dedicated and versatile Software Engineering Intern with an interest in cloud development to join our Platform Software R&D organization. Software Engineers find that our relaxed and stimulating work environment, which includes collaborating in small feature-focused teams, cultivates the type of engineering innovation that leads to our many award-winning products. We are looking for interns with a background or interests in cloud development, AI prompt engineering, Kubernetes, and Python development to help support the backend of our Nigel AI Advisor.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

• Deliver product features by participating in research, design, development, and documentation efforts.
• Collaborate with team members and project leaders on design discussions and code architecture.
• Specify, design, and implement new product features.
• Develop unit and automated functional tests to ensure high code quality and catch future regressions.
• Participate in team activities including standups, backlog reviews, retrospectives, and brainstorming sessions.
• Explore and apply new technologies to continually improve our infrastructure and processes.

For This Role, You Will Need:

• To be pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering (or similar)
• Understanding of good software design and architecture principles including:  
  • Data structures
  • Object oriented programming
  • Service based architectures
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

• Experience programming in Python
• Experience using source code control (e.g. Git)
• Work productively in an Agile group development environment
• Experience with cloud development and Kubernetes 
• Experience working in the Azure DevOps environment
• Demonstrated ability to:
