The Mission Systems Summer Engineering Project Program is our Elite Summer Program that has been around since 1995. This program aligns projects from various directorates that support research & partnerships on campus. During the summer each project is aligned with a technical mentor and a defined project plan with a series of milestone(s).
We are looking for students to work on a new internal project that involves information collection, collaboration, organization, and dissemination. As part of this project, interns will work with various stakeholders to understand current gaps, challenges with existing processes, and to help find and develop a scalable and flexible solution with a near-real time crowd sourcing approach. Students will have an opportunity to network with various subject matter experts, be innovative and creative, and gain experiences across a wide area of topics across the organization. The end goal is to have a functional solution that has been demonstrated and is ready for deployment, with Technical Conferences as the first use case.
What You Will Do:
- Understand stakeholders and produce a set of requirements
- Be innovative and problem solve, to create a new collaboration tool set using Microsoft Office 365 or other available Enterprise tools that supports collecting, processing, and cloud-based distribution of crowdsourced information from a large team of people over a specific period of performance.
- Beta test and conduct demonstration(s) of project’s capabilities to stakeholders and users

- UI/UX design and implementation
- How information and data analytics are used within organizations
- Knowledge, Perspectives, and Teamwork while working with Engineers, Program Leadership, Business Development, Competitive Intelligence, and Digital Engineering support across the Collins Aerospace Mission Systems Resilient Navigation Solutions portfolio.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Strong background in the following areas: Data Science, HMI Design, software API development
- Experience with survey creation, Office 365 applications such as Forms, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
- Candidates should have a baseline knowledge of high-level software APIs, HMI design, and cloud-based collaboration tools such as Microsoft Office 365

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
