The Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington Pharmacy Intern shares the responsibility and accountability for\: The timely and appropriate distribution of drug therapy in compliance with state and federal laws and in accordance with Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington policies and procedures. The provision of pharmaceutical care. A leadership role in the continued development and management of a model distribution system. The provision of patient focused service through a collaborative team approach with customers and other health care providers. Their own training and educational opportunities to foster growth in technical, professional and service skills in support of organizational objectives.
1st year\: Intern will gain experience and competency in the delivery system.
2nd year\: Intern will begin working in the advanced delivery system.
3rd, 4th year and Graduate Intern\: Intern will practice providing direct patient care after demonstration of competency in delivery system functioning.
Essential Responsibilities\:
- The intern will gain experience and competency in the delivery system. Duties\: To be done under supervision of a pharmacist include; Process orders through the KFHPW Rx system, insuring presentable and acceptable labeling of drug products. Provide timely preparation and delivery of medications. Interpret information on KFHPW Rx to determine costs, amounts to be dispensed, and proper use of over-ride in the preparation of a prescription. Utilize KFHPW RX front counter transactions Return to stock those medications not picked up. Float to other areas needing assistance when work load permits. Supports and enhances pharmaceutical care efforts. Adheres to customer service standards that ensure all Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington customers will be treated in a friendly, caring, and professional manner and that communication is efficient and effective. Responsibilities of the Intern include; Assure 100 % accuracy of medication products under supervision of a pharmacist.
- Performs other site specific duties as assigned or required.
