About the Heroku Business Operations Team

The Heroku Business Operations team translates Heroku's business vision and plans into reality. The team focuses on driving growth and efficiency through data-driven insights, customer-centric programs, and transformational business processes. As an intern, you'll be at the forefront of a major business transformation, helping to modernize and automate Heroku's business operations to fuel its next phase of growth. This is a unique, high-visibility opportunity to actively participate in shaping the future of a well-known developer platform

What You'll Do

As a Summer 2026 Intern - Heroku Business Operations, you'll get hands-on experience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Business Performance Analysis: Evaluating business performance against growth targets and supporting daily operations.

  • Strategic Projects: Contributing to high-impact projects such as an Attrition Deep Dive to understand and address customer churn, and a Go-To-Market (GTM) analysis to optimize sales and marketing strategies. You may also be involved with initiatives focused on financial and operational automation, pricing transformation, and AI integration.

  • Metric Definition and Interpretation: Defining and interpreting key performance metrics to deliver insights and recommendations to leadership.

  • Process Optimization: Triaging operational issues and helping to optimize systems and processes for scalability.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working with various teams across the organization, including Finance, Marketing, Product & Sales, to support business needs.

Required Skills

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to structure complex problems, ask insightful questions, and use data to develop actionable recommendations.

  • Excellent Communication: The ability to translate complex data into clear, compelling presentations for a senior-level audience.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience working on cross-functional projects and collaborating with diverse teams.

  • Start-Up Mentality: A proactive and resourceful mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

  • Advanced Excel Skills: High proficiency in Excel, including complex formulas, PivotTables, and other functions for analyzing large datasets.

  • Proficiency in SQL: The ability to write and execute SQL queries to extract and manipulate data from databases.

Preferred Qualifications

We are particularly interested in MBA candidates with a passion for business strategy and technology. Prior experience in a highly analytical role such as consulting, investment banking, or sales operations is a plus. Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau is also a "nice to have" skill.
