As a Private Company Management Liability Underwriting Intern, you will:
• Gain tangible, hands-on experience and insight into all aspects of our business.
• Support the underwriting team with day-to-day tasks related to new and renewal business.
• Learn to review insurance applications and supporting documents to assess risk.
• Learn the importance of customer relationships and what underwriters are looking for in each risk.
• Be involved in company projects.
• Work through case studies with mentors and individually.
• Learn about the unique accounts we insure.
• Interns will also be provided with educational sessions, exposure to all aspects of E-Risk underwriting work, networking, and team-building opportunities.
• High performing interns may be considered for a return offer.
About You
A successful Private Company Management Liability Underwriting Intern at Nationwide has:
Education
• Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, Finance, Accounting, Insurance, or a related field of study
• Completion of sophomore year is preferred
• Involvement in student activities and/or some work experience
Skills/Competencies
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
• Exposure to insurance or finance concepts/coursework is preferred
• Problem solving and analytical skills, including ability to use judgement in recognizing problems, determining appropriate actions, and implementing solutions
• Ability to work independently and to collaborate in a team environment
• Natural curiosity to explore and question
• Negotiation and interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Time management and service orientation
Nationwide does not participate in the Stem OPT Extension program. At its sole discretion, Nationwide determines whether to offer sponsorship for qualifying positions based on business need and budget. However, it is not usually available for entry level roles.
Nationwide pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement within the actual starting salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment.The national hourly pay range for Nationwide Internships is: $21 - $50
