What does our Internship Program offer? 

Key’s Enterprise Internship is a 10.5-week program that provides meaningful work that matters, offers feedback and coaching, and creates engaging events and conversations that will spark excitement and interest in bringing one’s full-time career to Key.

Interns are involved in a host of line of business specific projects that directly impact and benefit Key’s business and strategic pillars. The program includes networking with Key teammates across all levels of the organization, a series of Learning Labs where internal and external speakers provide insight on Key’s competitive landscape, financial wellness, and professional development best practices, and an assigned mentor who shares knowledge, experience, and advice.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative intern to get hands-on experience with the Employee Experience capability within the KeyXD team. The successful candidate will have a passion for working closely with business partners across the bank to develop and integrate strategies to enhance the overall employee experience. The candidate will have the opportunity to gain project experience on generating and integrating employee ideas, recognition and celebrations to support a client-centric culture. This person should have a desire to learn new skills and methods and have an interest in experience opportunities specific to the financial sector.

About the CX+EX Team

The EX Team are passionate advocates for KeyBank’s clients and teammates. We combine transformational experience capabilities across research & analysis, experience strategy, design & development, and employee experience. These capabilities are used to collaborate across the bank to create relevant and differentiated experiences that drive client, teammate and business outcomes.

The Employee Experience capability curates’ programs to improve employee experiences by creating a culture of connection and making employees feel valued through meaningful recognition. They also collect employee feedback and ideas to improve experiences across the bank.

Essential Functions

  • Strong program management skills to assist in the development and delivery of reward and recognition programs and events for client and non-client facing positions across the bank.
  • Ability to anchor employee experience programs into business strategies and corresponding priorities ensuring alignment and coordination across the organization.
  • Connect employee programs to success and impact through financial results, program surveys, and field feedback.
  • Strong relationship-building and influencing orientation with an ability to provide insight to internal stakeholders on opportunities to improve programs and/or performance.
  • Monitor current benchmarks, practices and capabilities against leading best practices and concisely make recommendations to evolve current programs.
  • Familiarity with employee experience theory, concepts and methodologies is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint.
  • Perform other duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities, and/or activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.
  • Comply with all KeyBank policies and procedures, including acting professionally at all times, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of Key’s clients and Key.

Education

  • Must have completed at least two years toward a four-year, undergraduate degree program with coursework in Customer Experience, Business, Hospitality, Marketing, Psychology, Mathematics, Statistics, Communications, Journalism, Finance, Computer Science, or related field with an anticipated graduation in or before May of 2027.

Work Experience

  • No prior professional experience required.
  • Summer work, campus involvement or previous internships is a plus.

Skills

  • Compelling written and oral storytelling with the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining high quality work products, including initiating, tracking, and reporting progress.
  • Collaboratively focused and able to work with a diverse group of stakeholders the CX+EX Team.

Physical Demands

  • General Office: Prolonged sitting, ability to communicate face to face in-person or on the phone with teammates and clients, frequent use of PC/laptop, occasional lifting/pushing/pulling of backpacks, computer bags up to 10 lbs.

Location

The internship is open to placement in Cleveland or New York City.

Compensation and Benefits

This position is eligible to earn an hourly rate of $23 per hour. Compensation also includes a $2,000.00 Summer Internship Sign-on Bonus.

KeyBank’s Internship and Analyst positions are not eligible for employment visa sponsorship (e.g., H-1B visa). This includes, for example, situations where a candidate may have temporary work authorization while enrolled in school or upon graduation (e.g., CPT, OPT) but would need H-1B visa sponsorship within a few years of employment in order to maintain employment eligibility.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base hourly rate in the range of $18.00 - $22.60 per hour. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location.

Please note: While a base pay range is referenced above, this position is compensated at a fixed rate of $23 hourly and is eligible to receive a $2,000 sign-on bonus.
