When you join the Highway Records team at Suffolk County Council (SCC) as an Apprentice Data Technician we’ll support your development from the start. Your role and responsibilities
As part of a small, welcoming team you will help to manage our mailbox and respond to customer enquiries.
You'll raise invoices, write to customers and support internal teams with accurate data.
You will use our mapping software (MapInfo) to update highway records, research historical data and produce plans.
Visits to view archives, at the Hold in Ipswich, to uncover fascinating records. Your research will help determine whether SCC is responsible for maintaining roads, trees, and ditches.
Your apprenticeship
Apprenticeship course – Level 3 Business Administration
Length of apprenticeship – 18 months plus 3 months for the end point assessment

You will have the opportunity to receive hands-on training and pursue certification. Completing your apprenticeship does not guarantee a full-time position. However, we are dedicated to helping you find a job. You will have priority access when you apply for vacancies. This applies during the final 3 months of your contract.
