Job Description

  • During your internship you will design and simulate standardized test coupons using 3D electromagnetic modeling tools (HFSS/CST) to develop Delta-L measurement structures optimized for automotive PCB insertion loss characterization up to 16 GHz.
  • You will conduct statistical design of experiments to quantify the impact of manufacturing tolerances (e.g. trace width, dielectric thickness, dielectric constant, etc.) on insertion loss measurement accuracy through parametric simulation studies and sensitivity analysis.
  • Furthermore, you will develop material parameter extraction algorithms using inverse modeling techniques to extract dielectric constant, loss tangent and copper roughness parameters from measured S-parameter data.
  • In addition, you will also create industry-standard documentation including test coupon design guidelines and data processing algorithms.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a comparable technical discipline with an emphasis on electromagnetic theory, RF/microwave engineering or signal integrity
  • Experience and Knowledge: proficient in processing data using Python; experience with 3D electromagnetic simulation tools (such as HFSS or CST Microwave Studio); solid understanding of transmission line theory and S-parameter analysis; prior experience in statistical analysis is a valuable asset
  • Personality and Working Practice:  you have a strong analytical thinking and a systematic approach to problem-solving; you display independence in conducting research and effectively collaborate within cross-functional teams
  • Languages: very good in written and spoken English, German is a plus
