Summary

The Ultrasound Student Technologist, under the direct supervision of a Registered Ultrasound Technologist, performs Ultrasound procedures for which competency status has been achieved.

EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING:

Currently enrolled in an accredited Sonography certificate or diploma program. New graduates may apply that are registered or registry eligible. AHA (American Heart Association) CPR Certification provided certification through Cape Fear Valley Training and Development department is required. Experienced in the treatment, care of and interacts with patients of all ages to include neo-natal, newborns, adolescents, pediatrics, adults and geriatrics preferred.

Demonstrates technical skills and expertise in performing diagnostic and vascular sonography. Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills. Verbal and written skills required. Demonstrates compassionate patient care. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development and understands the range of treatment needed for all age groups. Provides care based on the patient’s developmental needs. Experienced in the delivery of effective patient care and interacts effectively with patients of all ages. Must be able to communicate orally.  Must have dexterity and visual acuity.  Must have mobility to assume awkward positions. Must have mobility to respond to emergency situations.  Must be able to stand for long periods of time.  Must be able to bend and have the ability to lift 100lbs/carry objects up to 50 lbs. Position may involve skin, eye, or mucous membrane contact with blood or other potentially infectious material.
