Our Technology Department is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled co-op student to support our documentation and governance efforts for eight months for the Winter & Summer 2026 (January to August) work terms. We are a dynamic technology team committed to developing clear, comprehensive technical documentation that drives organizational efficiency and knowledge management.

The Technology - Governance Co-op/Intern will work closely with our Technology Governance team to develop, refine, and maintain critical technical documentation. This is an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience in technical writing, process documentation, and organizational communication within a complex technology environment.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Work under the supervision of the Governance & Administration team’s Analyst to assist with various projects

  • Develop and draft comprehensive technology directives, procedures, and policies

  • Research and synthesize complex technical information into clear, concise documentation

  • Review and update existing technical documentation to ensure accuracy and relevance

  • Assist in creating standardized templates for technical documentation

  • Participate in documentation workflow and process improvement initiatives

  • Support the technology governance team in maintaining documentation repositories

  • Conduct internal reviews and gather feedback from technology teams

  • Prepare summary reports and presentations on documentation projects

  • Ad-hoc projects, technical writing and documentation tasks as assigned by team

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Strong technical writing and communication skills

  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language

  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Basic understanding of technology concepts and technology infrastructure

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Experience with documentation tools (e.g., Confluence, SharePoint) is a plus

  • Knowledge of technical writing standards and best practices is an asset

  • Competitive pay: Mid / Back Office: $2,330.00 gross bi-weekly or $2,155.00 gross bi-weekly + vacation leave paid based on 6% of salary ($2,330.00 gross biweekly for those with (or working towards) a graduate degree and $2,155.00 gross biweekly for those with (or working towards) an undergraduate degree, diploma, or certificate)

  • Travel: if coming to Victoria for this work term, BCI will provide a fixed-rate travel allowance based on your location
