Internship Program Overview:

Summary of Role:

GlobalFoundries Fab 8 in Malta, New York is seeking a Yield Engineering Intern to support the daily operations and engineering analysis of the Yield Engineering Team. During the internship, the selected student will gain hands-on exposure to semiconductor manufacturing while completing a focused project involving yield analysis, root-cause investigation, or engineering efficiency improvement.

Essential Responsibilities include:

• Learn the core responsibilities, tools, and daily work of a Yield Engineer in a high-volume semiconductor manufacturing environment.

• Complete a three-month project focused on Yield Engineering analysis or efficiency improvement and present findings and recommendations to the team.

• Support root-cause investigations of yield and product-functionality issues using data analysis, failure analysis, product and design information, device knowledge, and technology understanding.

• Collaborate with Yield and process-module engineers to identify improvement opportunities related to cost, cycle time, product performance, and manufacturing robustness.

Other Responsibilities:

• Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications:

• Education –At least a sophomore at time of application and actively pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhDin Electrical Engineering or related field through an accredited degree program during the time of internship. 

• Must have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and be in good academic standing.

• Language Fluency - English (Written & Verbal) 

• Ability to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Prior related internship or co-op experience

• Demonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc.

• Project management skills, i.e., the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity. 

• Strong written and verbal communication skills 

• Strong planning & organizational skills

• Programming experience in Python or R for data analysis.

• Coursework or project experience in statistics, semiconductor devices, failure analysis, data visualization, or structured problem-solving.

Expected Salary Range

$20.00 - $40.00
