Join IMEG as a Building Intelligence & Integration Engineering Intern in Naperville, IL,and power your career with innovative, real-world project experience. Over 10–12 weeks, you’ll contribute to the analysis, design, proof-of-concept validation, and implementation oversight of low-voltage technology systems. You’ll collaborate with experienced engineers, manage tasks within project budgets, and see how your work helps achieve client goals—while building the skills, knowledge, and professional network to launch your future in technology integration and smart building systems.
Principal Responsibilities
Assist with technology system design per code and IMEG standards
Research commercially available equipment and design resources
Support client relations and maintain project documentation
Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions
Monitor design progress and maintain project notebooks
Review project documents for accuracy and completeness
Assist with technology lab implementation and testing
Create smart building use case narratives and documentation libraries
Conduct job site observations and support contract services
Required Qualifications and Skills
Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Architecture, or equivalent required
Prior internship experience in the building design consulting or construction industry preferred
Strong interest in design consulting and/or smart buildings
Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, SharePoint, Teams, Word, Excel, and Outlook
Experience with technology integration protocols and systems is a plus
Understanding of Agile Framework concepts
Desire to innovate and question the status quo
Understanding of basic networking, operating systems and software applications a plus
Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Help design and integrate intelligent building systems that connect HVAC, lighting, security, and occupancy data into unified platforms

Salary Range $22.00 - $24.00/hour. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
