Overview
The Apprenticeship Program Coordinator will be responsible for managing and coordinating the apprenticeship program at the Groton shipyard. This includes overseeing the recruitment, selection, training, and development of apprentices. The coordinator will work closely with various departments to ensure the successful implementation and execution of the program. Additionally, the coordinator will be responsible for maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
- Coordinate all aspects of the apprenticeship program, including recruitment, selection, and onboarding of apprentices.
- Collaborate with department managers to identify apprenticeship needs and develop training plans.
- Conduct interviews and assessments to select suitable candidates for the apprenticeship program.
- Develop and maintain relationships with educational institutions, vocational schools, and other training providers to ensure a pipeline of qualified candidates.
- Create and implement training programs for apprentices, in collaboration with subject matter experts and trainers.
- Monitor and evaluate the progress of apprentices, providing feedback and support as needed.
- Coordinate the scheduling of apprenticeship rotations and ensure compliance with program requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of apprentice progress, attendance, and performance.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to the apprenticeship program.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in apprenticeship program management.
- Collaborate with the Human Resources team to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines.
- Provide support and guidance to apprentices throughout their training period.
- Organize and facilitate meetings, workshops, and events related to the apprenticeship program.
- Prepare reports and presentations on the progress and outcomes of the apprenticeship program.
- Collaborate with State of CT Department of Labor Apprenticeship office
- Collaborate with Union representatives
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, Labor or Employee relations, OR a minimum of 2 years of full-time experience in program coordination, workforce development, or human resources
Preferred:
- Previous experience in coordinating apprenticeship programs or similar workforce development initiatives.
- Previous experience working with CT state school administrators
- Experience fostering collaborative relationships with Union leadership
Skills
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including apprentices, trainers, managers, and educational institutions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Familiarity with MTC and UBCJA Apprenticeship Standards of Agreement
- Knowledge of Electric Boat core trade disciplines and operations
