About the Accounting & Finance Intern Role:

Sands Capital is seeking a motivated Accounting & Finance (“A&F”) Intern to join our Accounting & Finance Team. This internship provides exposure to both core financial planning and analysis (“FP&A”) responsibilities as well as key accounting processes, offering a well-rounded experience across the A&F function.

As an A&F Intern, you will:

  1. Assist in monthly forecasting of revenue and expense line items.
  2. Support the accounting close process.
  3. Perform variance analysis to track performance and year-end planning.
  4. Conduct industry research on trends and best practices.
  5. Help prepare financial reporting packages. You will gain hands-on experience with our accounting software, FP&A tools, and Excel modeling.
  6. Contribute to process improvement initiatives and ad hoc projects spanning both finance and accounting, with the opportunity to work cross-functionally with other teams.

Our internship program serves to identify motivated and talented undergraduate students who will gain relevant skills and knowledge through the internship. The 2026 summer internship program will run from June 8 to August 14.

Work Expectations:

The work location for this role is Sands Capital’s headquarters in Arlington, Virginia at a minimum of four days per week in-office (including Tuesdays and Wednesdays) or more as directed by your manager.  Please know that the hybrid schedule is subject to change at any time.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Building and analyzing financial models and projections within our FP&A software and Excel.
  • Assisting with the daily accounting operations of financial data entry, reconciliations, and ad hoc projects.
  • Completing variance analysis to track business performance and prepare reports for senior management.
  • Conducting industry research and presenting the insights/findings.
  • Performing other position responsibilities, as needed.

Position Qualifications:

  • 2nd or 3rd year undergraduate students interested in exploring a career in Accounting & Finance, with an emphasis in corporate finance.
  • A genuine and demonstrable interest in business analysis, accounting, and FP&A through coursework, projects, or prior experience.
  • Familiarity with accounting principles and exposure to financial modeling or data analysis tools (Excel preferred).
  • Proven initiative, attention to detail, and work ethic, with the ability to manage assignments independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Salary and Benefits:

Sands Capital offers competitive compensation. For this role, the hourly rate ranges from $25 - $35/hour and will be determined by the candidate’s grade level as well as relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Sands Capital may also offer generous benefits for interns who meet the relevant eligibility criteria as determined by Sands Capital’s benefit plan documents.
