Job Summary
The Team Member Relations Specialist supports a positive and respectful workplace environment by serving as a resource to both management and team members regarding workplace policies, employee relations, and employment practices. This role plays a critical part in resolving employee concerns, conducting investigations, and promoting compliance with all applicable laws and internal standards. With a focus on fostering team member engagement, the Specialist contributes to maintaining a productive, fair, and legally compliant work culture throughout Morongo Casino Resort & Spa.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Provides guidance and partnership to management on resolving team member relations concerns to improve morale, productivity, and workplace harmony.
- Conducts investigations into team member complaints, grievances, and workplace issues in a thorough and timely manner.
- Coaches both management and team members on interpretation and application of company policies and procedures.
- Serves as a liaison across departments within Human Resources, ensuring strong communication and alignment between leadership and team members.
- Leads discussions and documentation related to disciplinary actions, ensuring consistency and fairness.
- Assesses and mitigates risks associated with corrective actions, terminations, and other employee-related decisions.
- Facilitates random and post-incident drug testing processes in collaboration with Security.
- Responds to inquiries from the Employment Development Department (EDD) and attends unemployment hearings when necessary.
- Supports the bi-annual team member climate survey, promoting participation, collecting feedback, and helping departments implement improvement strategies.
- Monitors HR trends and regulatory updates to ensure compliance with applicable laws and best practices.
- Generates progress reports, summaries, and data-driven insights to support HR initiatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may guide or coach managers on team member relations matters.
Qualifications
- Must maintain strict confidentiality and demonstrate discretion in handling sensitive matters.
- Knowledge of Human Resources practices, Federal and State employment laws, and California Unemployment Insurance.
- Proficient in PC-based programs, including HRIS, Microsoft Excel, and Windows.
- Strong communication skills and sound judgment in resolving team member concerns.
- Ability to work independently and build effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Casino Human Resources experience is highly desired.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field required. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
- Professional certification in HR (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in human resources, with a focus on employee or labor relations
- Experience conducting workplace investigations, resolving conflicts, and supporting disciplinary processes required
- Strong understanding of employment laws, HR policies, and best practices in team member relations.
- Experience working with HRIS systems (e.g., UKG Pro, Oracle, SAP, or similar) preferred.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

- Stationary Work: Frequently remains seated at a desk or computer workstation for extended periods.
- Tool Operation: Regular use of computers, software applications, and standard office equipment.
- Visual Acuity: Requires close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus while reviewing data and documents.
- Working Conditions: Regularly works in both office and casino environments, with exposure to moderate to high noise levels and a smoking environment
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.
WORKING HOURS:
Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
