Job Description:
This role is responsible for performing laboratory tasks in support of dōTERRA Enterprises’ essential oil research, quality testing, and distillation operations. This is an ideal position for individuals seeking hands-on experience in analytical chemistry, natural product research, and essential oil science. The intern will assist in sample preparation, chemical analysis, and botanical distillation. This position will report to the Head of Essential Oil Science.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with GC-MS sample preparation and data collection

  • Participate in steam and hydro distillation of essential oil samples

  • Perform basic wet lab techniques, including weighing, diluting, and extracting

  • Maintain accurate records of lab activities and observations

  • Support ongoing research projects related to oil purity, adulteration, and chemotype profiling

  • Help compile technical reports and data summaries

  • Conduct literature reviews on essential oil chemistry

  • Follow laboratory SOPs and safety guidelines

Job Qualifications:

  • Completed or in-progress bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field

  • Basic understanding of organic chemistry and laboratory practices

  • Prior experience working in an academic or industrial chemistry lab is preferred

  • Interest in natural products, plant-based compounds, or essential oil science

  • Strong attention to detail and good documentation habits

  • Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and with a team

  • Experience with GC-MS or distillation techniques is a plus
