Micron’s Yield Enhancement (YE) team in ID1 is dedicated to identifying and resolving physical and electrical failure mechanisms in DRAM products. Through advanced techniques in Physical Failure Analysis (PFA), electrical testing, and yield analysis, the team accelerates learning cycles and drives continuous improvement in product quality and reliability. YE engineers collaborate across Technology Development, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to ensure Micron’s memory solutions meet the highest standards of performance and efficiency.

As a Yield Enhancement Engineering Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in semiconductor failure analysis and yield improvement. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers to investigate electrical and physical defects, apply advanced analysis techniques, and contribute to projects that directly impact Micron’s manufacturing success.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical testing and physical failure analysis on DRAM memory devices.
  • Delayer failing devices using wet and dry techniques.
  • Operate Focused Ion Beam (FIB), STEM/TEM for cross-section analysis, and SEM for top-down analysis.
  • Generate slice and view images for inline process improvement feedback.
  • Conduct yield analysis to identify electrical failure modes.
  • Recognize and communicate new failure mechanisms to relevant teams.
  • Complete a project designed to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Gain a deep understanding of semiconductor processes, device operation, and failure analysis strategies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Strong analytical skills and laboratory experience.
  • Interest in applying PFA to software development.
  • Basic understanding of computer program architecture and coding.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • TEM/SEM laboratory experience or device characterization lab experience.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing and yield analysis methodologies.
  • Can start in January of 2026 with a 3-6 month internship duration
