Reporting to the Certification Manager, the Certification Engineering Co-op will support the team responsible for the research, planning, and execution of the FAA certification process for commercial aircraft seats and seating components. You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring our products meet and exceed the highest safety standards, empowering us to continue leading the industry.
 

The Role: As part of your co-op experience, you’ll dive deep into the heart of aviation engineering, spearheading the research, planning, and execution of FAA certification processes for commercial aircraft seats and seating components. You will work with both our structural and flammability certification teams over a two-semester time frame (January-July or July-December). During your co-op experience you will have hands-on opportunities to apply your engineering knowledge and contribute directly to our certification efforts. You will work closely with experienced engineers and gain valuable insights into the aerospace industry's regulatory landscape, working on tasks related to seat testing, documentation, preparing Technical Standard Order (TSO) packages, and supporting the certification team. You will also learn about FAA regulations, the certification process, working as part of an integrated project team (IPT), and operating in a fast-paced environment.

Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run January-August (including the Spring semester); it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position ​

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Relevant coursework or projects in engineering.
  • Strong academic performance and eagerness to learn in a professional setting.
  • Prior internship or coursework in aerospace industry, particularly with aircraft interiors.
  • Experience or coursework in reviewing and approving technical drawings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare presentations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in team environments and across functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and engineering software applications.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
