Job Description Summary

Intern for Advanced Technology Organization (ATO) focused on innovation and expert services for GE Vernova Grid Software product suite. The team pilots Join GE Vernova’s Advanced Technology Organization (ATO) as a Power System Iintern and be part of a cutting-edge team driving innovation in the energy sector. This role offers hands-on experience with the GridOS platform and enterprise-grade applications like Advanced Energy Management Systems (AEMS) and Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS).

· Collaborate on enhancing existing Grid Software solutions and developing new, commercially viable features.
· Solve real-world industry and customer challenges using a mix of electrical engineering principles, physics, and AI/ML techniques.
· Contribute to pilot projects and advanced R&D initiatives that shape the future of grid technology.

Job Description

What you'll bring (Basic Qualifications)

• Currently enrolled in PhD/Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with thesis work in Electrical Engineering (Focus on Power System Operation)

• Strong Work/Academic background experience in electrical power systems with focus on Power System Operations (Transmission & Distribution)

• Power System Operation & Control – Courses and Projects

• Projects and Papers related to AEMS, ADMS, & WAMS

• Experience with Simulation models for Power Systems

• Minimum cumulative or in-major 3.0/4.0 GPA.

• Must commit to working full time (40 hrs/wk) during the internship in summer.

· You bring hands-on experience in developing machine learning models, including deep neural networks, graph neural networks, and time series forecasting—especially as applied to power system data and grid operations.

· You're familiar with intelligent agent frameworks, prompt engineering, embeddings, and vector databases, and understand how these tools can enhance decision-making in grid software applications.

· You have foundational knowledge of power system concepts such as load forecasting, state estimation, fault detection, and grid stability, and can integrate these with AI/ML techniques to build smarter, more resilient energy systems.

Eligibility Requirements:

· Must be willing to work in an office located in Bellevue.

· Must have the ability to work in the US for an unlimited amount of time without sponsorship

The pay for this position ranges from $21.00/hr - $36.00/hr based on years of undergraduate/graduate field of study completed.

This position is also eligible for:

  • Relocation Assistance: Co-op/Interns will be reimbursed for reasonable, proper, and documented expenditures incurred while initially reporting to work and returning to school/home upon completion of the assignment. Employees with a permanent address greater than 50 miles away from the work location are eligible.
  • Housing Allowance: Co-op/Interns employees receive a weekly housing allowance to help off-set living expenses when the co-op/Intern’s permanent residence is at least 50 miles away from the work location.
  • Employee Assistance Program, providing 24/7 confidential assessment, counseling and referral services
  • GE Vernova Retirement Savings Plan (RSP) after their accumulated service reaches 90 days, and they meet any other eligibility requirements as defined in the plans. (Eligibility occurs on the 1st of the month following the 90th day.)
