Navy Federal is seeking a strategic and analytical Summer Associate (Product Manager) to lead the vision and roadmap for some of the customer experiences on our Membership and Deposit Products. In this role, you’ll shape long-term product strategy grounded in deep member insights and market trends. You’ll work closely with Analysts to leverage both quantitative and qualitative data, and partner with Marketing to ensure alignment between product direction and member engagement strategies. Navy Federal Membership is growing rapidly, and the financial industry is ripe for deposit innovation. Savings and Deposit Products (SDP) are something that most consumers interact with daily, and our membership is no different. SPD is continuously evolving to maximize engagement from members and team members, taking advantage of data insights, improving processes, and enhancing system capabilities to ensure an optimal member experience. 

The Summer Associate will partner with cross-functional teams across Navy Federal Credit Union to identify opportunities, refine business outcomes, build new capabilities, and drive product roadmap for our members. Help define what the product features should be and explain why they are needed. Serve as a liaison between key business stakeholders and technology teams to define, develop, communicate, and execute strategic plans for introducing new product initiatives. Own and drive recommendations for the roadmap and refine and prioritize product backlog based on business objectives, member research, competitive dynamics, and data analytics. 

Responsibilities will include analyzing business needs to develop and implement solutions in both systems and processes to provide enhanced capabilities. Areas of focus will include involvement in cross-organizational task groups concerning new systems or products as well as developing, recommending, and documenting enhancements to workflows to streamline processes. It will be essential for the team member in this position to be a quick learner with analytical thinking skills to understand the evolving product strategy and competitive landscape to be able to suggest product, system, and/or process enhancements to propel the strategic vision forward. 

The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2026 and ending in August 2026. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2026 or later.

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor in Business Administration, Management Information Systems, or a related field
  • Effective skills identifying and analyzing business requirements and recommending solutions 
  • Experience in problem resolution including determining scope of issue, root cause, and creating well thought out recommendations 
  • Experience in managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals 
  • Familiarity with Change Management and Agile Methodology 
  • Good communication and presentation skills 
  • Strong strategic, critical, and analytical thinking skills 
  • Knowledge of financial services/payments a plus

  • Responsible for defining recommendations for and supporting product initiatives that help build desirable, feasible, and sustainable products/services that meet member and internal customer needs 
  • Develops an understanding of the division’s business objectives, risk tolerance, and member needs in order to proactively identify needs, problems, and solutions based on analyses 
  • Support the end-to-end product development life cycle including ideation, product definition, build/prototyping, design, validation, and delivery 
  • Advances assigned product features (new or existing) from ideation to enhancements to post-delivery maintenance 
  • Contributes to ensure the Portfolio, Program, & Team layers are aligned on outcomes that deliver tangible business value and bridges big picture understanding and tactical needs 
  • Content authority of the program backlog, accountable for feature creation, feature acceptance, prioritization, delivery plans, and overall management 
  • Explores the market, conducting market research on product features to understand end-to-end the current and future member needs 
  • Defines, owns, and communicates recommendations for the product functions, vision, and roadmap while supporting the architectural runway 
  • Identifies, communicates, escalates, and resolves project issues and risks to direct management  
  • Contributes to a focus on the agile methodology of delivery by scoping iterative releases, collaborating with and influencing stakeholders to meet business goals 
  • Act as the voice of the internal team member and advocate for the needs of those stakeholders on their behalf  
  • Build partnerships and alliances, and manage relationships with partners to drive forward the implementation on all fronts to develop innovative products and services 
  • Enables decision making for leaders around product features through clear and concise communication 
  • Develops recommendations for and implements change management strategies and plans for product features 
  • Develop new ideas, initiatives, and recommendations that drive continuous improvement
