Why This Role Matters:

Group1001 is looking for a college student to join us as an Actuarial Intern in our Property and Casualty Actuarial Department at our Zionsville, IN Corporate Office. The internship will run from May 18 to August 7, 2026.

As an Actuarial Intern within our team, you will have the unique opportunity to work closely with experienced actuaries to gain practical experience in data analysis, modeling, and reporting. Interns will work on projects supporting either the Pricing or Reserving team within the Actuarial Department.

How You'll Contribute:

  • Assist in the development, validation, and maintenance of actuarial models.
  • Contribute to the analysis of historical claims data, emerging trends, industry benchmarks, and competitive landscapes to assess the adequacy of rates and reserves.
  • Contribute to the preparation and submission of rate filings to regulatory authorities, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate integration of data and effective communication of actuarial insights.
  • Collaborate on the creation of reports and presentations that communicate findings, assumptions, and recommendations to both internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
  • Assist in the documentation of methodologies and assumptions used in reserving or pricing processes.
  • Contribute to special projects or initiatives aimed at enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of the reserving or pricing processes.

We Are Looking For:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, finance, economics, math, physics, engineering or related field.
  • At least one actuarial exam passed
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong time and project management skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Exposure to database tools (R, SQL, Python, etc.) and prior coursework or exposure to actuarial principles and concepts is preferred.
