Position Overview:

Eaton’s Energy Transition Team is currently seeking a Firmware Engineering Co-Op.

The hourly rate for this position is $22.15 - $27.69 per hour.

The Product Development Firmware Engineering Co-Op is responsible for supporting the creative design and development of IoT-connected home energy management systems, intelligent vehicle-to-home/grid (V2X) power management products, plus other electric power grid system solutions.

The Firmware Engineering Co-Op will support firmware development, testing, and integration efforts.   This position will contribute to the overall functionality of a product with involvement from project initiation thru manufacturing launch, plus ongoing developments or feature enhancements.  The Product Development Firmware Engineer will work closely with the Engineering Manager, Program Manager, other Firmware Engineers, System Architects, Electrical Engineers, and Mechanical Engineers to develop the products in an organized and expedient fashion per our Pro-Launch process. 

In this function you will: 

  • Contribute to firmware and software developments for embedded systems/micro-controllers along with integrating and test tools for embedded systems.
  • Support firmware / software development using code repositories, code reviews, build servers, and both agile and Test-Driven Development (TDD) methods. 
  • Work with wireless / IOT products utilizing Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Cloud technologies.
  • Support the enhancement of existing products and services based on evaluations of existing and new technologies per Eaton’s strategic plans.
  • Support and perform technical evaluations of third-party solutions and assess opportunities to develop partnerships or new suppliers.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Actively enrolled or received a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or similar from an accredited institution with graduation no later than August 2027.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher (please don't round).
  • Minimum of one internship or co-op experience or an equivalent of 3 months' work experience completed at the time of this application.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.
  • Relocation is not provided for this role, the candidate must be located within 50 miles of Moon Township, PA.
