Job Description
If you are passionate about technology and eager to make a real impact in manufacturing, then this robotics internship will immerse you in a hands-on project that combines data analysis, process mapping, and innovation in automation. You’ll work closely with experts in robotics, AI, engineering, production, and quality to help shape the future of our manufacturing processes.
The aim of this initiative is to explore the feasibility and define the robotics requirements for key subassemblies of our products across our footprint, as well as to define an optimal strategy to scale up robotics initiatives across the board.
Project Scope:
Analyze production volumes and manufacturing capacity for various product variants across factories to identify high-runner and low-runner models, assess performance trends, and gain actionable insights for optimizing production across product families.
Perform an in-depth analysis of critical manufacturing processes, applying a continuous improvement mindset to identify opportunities for streamlining performance, enhancing quality, and optimizing the tools and steps involved in operations.
Collaborate with a robotic integrator to assess manufacturing processes for automation potential, and contribute to redesigning processes to eliminate inefficiencies and enhance overall productivity.
Explore state-of-the-art robotic solutions in leading industries and bring fresh ideas to enhance our operations.
Engage with stakeholders across our global manufacturing footprint—including engineering, production, and quality—to gather insights and actively drive process improvements.
Develop innovative concept designs for flexible robotic cells by creating layout sketches, planning optimized workflows, and incorporating stakeholder feedback to enhance manufacturing processes.
Support strategic decision-making on the deployment of robotic cells by assessing where, why, how, and when to invest, proposing smart deployment options, and establishing criteria for success.
Develop, update, and present comprehensive business cases and financial models for identified initiatives, detailing ROI, production volumes, associated risks, and other key metrics.
Primary Skills Developed:
Technical and Analytical Skills
Robotics and Automation Knowledge: Hands-on experience with robotic systems, automation technologies, and their integration in manufacturing environments.
Data Analysis: Ability to collect, interpret, and leverage production data for decision-making using analytical tools.
Process Mapping and Optimization: Skills in mapping current processes, identifying inefficiencies, and designing improvements.
Project and Concept Development
Design and Modeling: Exposure to CAD tools for designing flexible robotic cells and creating layout sketches.
Business Case Analysis: Building and updating financial models, assessing ROI, and evaluating risks associated with automation initiatives.
Continuous Improvement
Lean Manufacturing: Application of continuous improvement methodologies to streamline operations and enhance quality.
Problem-Solving: Practical experience in identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
Collaboration and Communication
Cross-Functional Teamwork: Working with stakeholders across engineering, production, quality, and finance to gather insights and drive change.
Presentation Skills: Communicating findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Internship Term Dates:
May/June - August 2026
Qualifications:
Pursuing a graduate degree in engineering (robotics, mechatronics, mechanical, electrical, industrial, or related fields), computer science, or a relevant technical discipline).
Minimum GPA 4.0 / 5.0 scale.
