The Need
For over 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times in the last decade, IJM’s Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence between 50 and 85% forvery largepopulations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence, we are seeking aPhilanthropyIntern to join the 2026SummerInternship class.
ThePhilanthropyIntern will join theUS Philanthropyteam, whichserves the organization byconnecting generous donors with the inspiring work happening in IJM’s programs and inviting them to engage deeper.
ThePhilanthropyIntern will support theorganization's largest revenue-raising arm on critical projects. Tasks may include:
Project coordination;
Events/logisticsplanning;
Fundraising campaign planning;
Database management;and
Participating in departmental and general IJM administrative support.
This positioncan be fully in-person orhybrid (onsite Tuesdays & Thursdays)inthe Washington, DC areaor remote for non-local candidates.It reports totheSr. Associate,Philanthropy.Theposition requires 20-40 hoursper week, primarily during the hours of 8:30am-5:30pm EST.
Summerinternship program dates are June 1– Aug. 7, 2026.

General Qualifications and Required Skills
Bachelor's degree must be in progress for DC/RemoteInternshipsand applicants need to have completed at least two years of undergraduate study.
Experienceand interest in project managementand event planning.
Experience and interest infundraising
Experience indatabase management.
Strongwritten and verbalcommunicationskills.

*What is a statement of faith?
A statement of faith should describe your Christian faith and how you see it as relevant to your involvement with IJM.The statement can either be incorporated into the cover letter or submitted as a separate document and should include, at a minimum, a description of your spiritual disciplines (prayer, study, etc.) and your current fellowship or place of worship.
