Corteva Agriscience has opportunities for a 3-month research intern to support wheat trait characterization based in Johnston, Iowa!  Corteva sponsors a variety of internships in agricultural research across many field research centers in North America. These research centers house trait development, crop protection and plant breeding research activities. Sharing resources across research groups facilitates more efficient integrated product development. As a Seed Production Research and Characterization Intern at the Johnston research center you will have the opportunity to obtain diverse experiences across these functions responsible for integrated product development.  

Position duration is May to August 2026.

Responsibilities – You will work as part of a team focused on phenotyping tasks associated with trait development in wheat research, production research, and plant breeding projects.  Daily activities would include but not limited to field data collection, assisting scientists with tools in the field and laboratory, field plot maintenance, note taking, laboratory work, greenhouse/growth chamber activities, and lab data processing.  You may also assist other Field Scientists located in the geographic region. You will also manage your own research project with the expectation of a verbal report to the larger intern group at Corteva AgriScience in Johnston, IA.  

Intern positions provide excellent experience that can be applied to full time positions in the industry, or in preparation for additional graduate level training in the plant sciences.  

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

·Current sophomore or junior standing at an accredited university

·Education focus in Agronomy, Plant Breeding, Plant Physiology, Plant Pathology, Genetics, Biology or a related field

·Agricultural background beneficial

·Minimum GPA requirement of 3.0

  • Individual must display a high degree of self-motivation, self-initiative, and ability to work well with others in varying field and ergonomic environments.

  • Strong interpersonal skills & teamwork

  • Valid driver’s license & ability to travel to remote field locations with possible overnight travel

  • Must be enrolled at an accredited university at the time of internship
