NOTE:
- Those hired into Tier 1 of the Engineer Intern classification must pass their FE Exam and obtain their Engineer Intern Certification within 12 months of hire, failing which the employee may be terminated for cause. Upon obtaining the Engineer Intern certificate, the employee will be promoted to Tier 2.
- Employees in the Intern classification (Tier 2 and Tier 3) will have eight years from the date of their Engineer Intern Certification to obtain their Professional Engineer license. Failure to obtain the Professional Engineer license within this time frame shall result in reclassification of their position to an Engineering Associate (Tier 3 or Tier 4, respectively).
- Employees in this classification (Tier2) that acquire the competencies and minimum qualifications for the next tier (Tier 3) will be able to apply for promotional opportunities through a competitive selection process. Employees will not automatically be upgraded to the next tier. Reclassifying a position is based on business need and financial impact and is not based solely on the job competencies or qualifications of the incumbent.
Emergency Management Responsibilities
In the event of an emergency or disaster, an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee’s department, the County’s Office of Emergency Management, or County Administration. Such assignments may be for before, during or after the emergency/disaster.
