Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Architectural Intern to be based in Calgary, AB, Canada.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Strong, hands-on technical knowledge
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Document review and inter-disciplinary coordination
- Develop or assist in the development of studies, programs, concepts, preliminary and final plans and specifications for projects of varying type and scale
- Prepare, review and approve drawing, specifications and other documentation as required. These will range from design presentations documents to technical documents for building permit, tender and construction and technical reports
- Ensure designs are developed in compliance with client program of requirements and in compliance with local codes, standards and applicable regulations
- Ensure designs are developed in accordance with AECOM processes, design and quality standards
- Lead project coordination with multi-disciplinary teams, both internal to AECOM and external. Provides leadership by coordinating the work of others
- Interface with clients, authorities and other project participants as needed to achieve a successful project
- Work with AECOM design offices across the country, including participation in project teams and overall development of the design and technical quality of AECOM projects
- Proactively identifies and advocates for improvements to existing processes and procedures. Adjusts to new processes or changing assignments, and considers alternative approaches to complete work
- Completes assigned work independently and receives general guidance and direction on new projects, tasks and priorities
- Checks own work and the work of others
- Team player with the ability to work within a team environment
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the below requirement, at a very minimum:
- No less than a University Degree in Architecture + Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Architect
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preference for those with over two years of experience as a Registered Architect
- Experience with Science & Technology laboratories and facilities is a definite asset.
- LEED certification and familiarity with AAA/AIBC/OAQ/AIA are highly regarded.
- Proficiency in REVIT, BIM, MS Office, Adobe Suite, and strong communication abilities are essential.
