Overview:

Summer Interns complete a 10 week internship centered around professional development, career growth and building the necessary skills to succeed.  Summer Interns participate in projects and department initiatives that accelerate career growth and play an important role in building the future of the Bank.  As an Intern, you will gain exposure to other departments through guest speakers and industry leaders and a built-in network with peers as well as priority consideration for full time opportunities throughout the Bank.

Objective:

To support the planning, coordination, and execution of internal and external events for both the Technology Development and Technology Internship Programs. This includes enhancing organizational visibility, engagement across the factory, the impact for program participants and operational excellence.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the internship, the intern will:

  • Understand the full lifecycle of event planning and execution.
  • Gain experience in vendor management, budgeting, and logistics.
  • Develop communication and organizational skills in a professional setting.

Primary Responsibilities:

Event Planning & Coordination:

  • Assist in the development and execution of event goals, timelines, and logistical planning.
  • Coordinate with vendors, venues, and internal teams to ensure smooth execution.
  • Support budget tracking and expense reporting for events for the 2026 TIP and TDP Programs.

Marketing & Communications:

  • Help create promotional materials (flyers, emails, social media posts).
  • Maintain event registration and attendee communications via Outlook and internal communication systems..
  • Capture and organize event photos and feedback for post-event retrospectives.

On-Site Support:

  • Participate in event setup, run-of-show, and breakdown.
  • Take an events coordinator approach and possibly have them manage the TIP/TDP events for the Summer. They would pickup where we leave off with the plans already in motion.
  • Provide on-site support to participants, guests, speakers, and staff.
  • Troubleshoot issues during events and escalate as needed.

Administrative Tasks:

  • Maintain event calendars and documentation of processes.
  • Prepare meeting agendas and take notes during planning sessions.
  • Track RSVPs, attendance, and post-event follow-up / surveys.

Others:

  • Complete duties and responsibilities of an entry-level professional nature specific to assigned area of the Bank.
  • Ensure activities adhere to established internal policies and external regulations as applicable. 
  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
  • Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.0

The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation. The range listed above encompasses all geographic locations. The pay rate specific to your location will fall within this range and is available from your recruiter.
