Electrical / Mechatronics Student Intern

Role Summary :

To support the Engineered Systems Department for  Electrical, Instrumentation & Automation related to dry vacuum pump and liquid ring pump/compressor systems.

Responsibilities & Requirements:

  • Review and interpret electrical and instrumentation specifications ensuring global standards and safety codes are adhered to.
  • Development of electrical schematics, BOMs, control panel drawings, junction boxes and ladder logic diagrams.
  • Review and approve electrical designs including drawings and BOMs
  • Assist in the completion of project specific engineering documentation as directed by Project Manager / Engineer
  • Assist in developing control narratives or sequences of operations.
  • Provide input for electrical, instrumentation, and controls sections of the IOM manuals for end users
  • Assist in transmittals, letters, and memos for release packages.                 
  • Assist in filing drawings, correspondence, shop order, systems files.                                
  • Assist in compiling manuals for Systems, and make copies (electronic and hardcopy), as needed.
  • Retrieve documents for reference and fabrication and release.
  • Follow-up on drawing commitments ensuring on time delivery of same.
  • Ensure all manuals, final drawings, cut sheets, etc. are in customer’s possession as acknowledged.
  • Review and respond to special order requirements by compiling and preparing appropriate documentation for submittal to customers. This task ranges in scope from single page certificates to major documents compiled over the life of a project.
  • Address order requirements consistent with prepared plans and independently prepare supporting documentation for customer acceptance.
  • Various clerical duties involving organization and maintenance of customer shop order files, completion of reports, agendas, memos, etc for the Engineered Systems Department.


Requirements

  • Actively pursuing Engineering degree (Mechatronics / Electrical Engineering)
  • Computer proficiency, specifically with Microsoft Office
  • E-plan / Autocad knowledge helpful
  • NEC / CSA code knowledge helpful
  • P&IDs, process flow diagrams, electrical schematics, ladder logic diagrams knowledge helpful
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Must be self-motivated and able to produce measurable results
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team oriented, and Continuous Improvement environment

Preferred Experience / Skills :

  • Knowledge of rotating equipment helpful
