Job Description:

We are seeking an innovative machine learning student to join our team as a Data Governance Analyst Co-op. Reporting to the Senior Business Analyst, Data Governance, this role presents an exciting opportunity to apply cutting-edge ML techniques and develop sophisticated automation tools for advanced metadata management.

This opportunity is available to students with a April 2026 or later graduation date.

This co-op position offers immersive experience in advanced data governance, machine learning applications, and automation within a fast-paced business environment. You'll have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on our data management strategies while cultivating essential skills for a successful career in data science and governance.

What will you do?

• Implement state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms to classify and protect Personally Identifiable Information (PII)

• Design and develop robust Python-based automation tools using Visual Studio Code for complex metadata management tasks

• Lead machine learning projects and spearhead process optimization initiatives

• Collaborate with the Finance Data Governance Team on:

  - Creating comprehensive data dictionaries

  - Developing intricate data flow and lineage maps

  - Performing in-depth data profiling and analysis

  - Driving project management initiatives and ensuring timely deliverables

What do you need to succeed?

• Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced, evolving environment

• Pursuing an advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Machine Learning, or Data Sciences (or equivalent)

• Exceptional presentation and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly

• Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail

• Proactive self-starter with excellent time management and prioritization abilities

• Advanced proficiency in Python, VS Studio, MS Excel and PowerPoint

• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies and business concepts

• Proficiency in Python; experience with VBA, Tableau, and financial reporting is highly valued

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted for. The Base Pay which you will be considered for will vary depending on the Campus program you are selected for.

Eligible Sun Life employees for various Campus Graduate programs will also participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance
