Job Description

Do you want to work on real world problems with smart, collaborative peers and leaders who are invested in your success? CapTech is looking for undergraduate Juniors that are passionate problem solvers who strive to produce user-informed design solutions to complex business challenges, all while honing their craft and growing in their careers. 

Elevate provides meaningful immersion into the full life cycle of a typical IT consulting project. This unique 10-week program takes place in person in our Richmond, Virginia Headquarters and simulates a client engagement where one can achieve a full understanding of the consulting experience while solving relevant client problems. Interns work in self-led teams and are paired with full-time consultants for guidance and mentorship. Additionally, interns enjoy weekly lunch-and-learns with our leadership team. CapTech interns are given the opportunity to build something that matters and create impactful value.

Some responsibilities you could have as a UX/Product Design intern:

  • Contributing to and producing information architectures, task flows, wireframes, and prototypes that follow interaction design and usability best practices

  • Creating or applying UI designs that enhance the overall user experience, aligning with visual design and accessibility best practices  

  • Leverage UX research methodologies and conduct usability testing to create informed, iterative design 

  • Creating clean, informative, and concise presentations to clients and internal teams that communicate the rationale behind your designs 

  • Consulting with clients and team members on the benefits of research-backed user experience and interaction design  

  • Keeping up with interaction design trends and applying them to your recommendations  

  • Researching and understanding technology trends

Qualifications

We are seeking UX/Product Designers for Summer 2026 who will work on integrated teams to  design and implement a solution to a business problem over the course of the summer using development platforms and languages. All applicants must submit a portfolio. Characteristics of a qualified candidate include: 

  • Current undergraduates (or +1 masters candidates) with expected graduation dates in December 2026 - May 2027 who will be seeking full-time work after graduation 

  • Demonstrated an ability to be self motivated contributors in a team environment 

  • Project or internship experience utilizing tools, such as Figma, Adobe CC, and Axure is strongly desired, with working knowledge of Accessibility beet practices a plus 

  • Strong oral and written communication skills 

  • All majors welcome to apply; Human-Centered Interaction (HCI), Digital Media, Web Design, Information Science, and Graphic Design majors preferred, but not required
