This is a hybrid internship, working four days per week in the downtown Milwaukee office and one day remote.

About the Role:

An effective media relations program is vital to Baird’s strong brand, advances Baird’s business priorities and contributes to our commitment to being a great place to work. The Public Relations intern works directly with Baird’s Public Relations team, supports the internal Communications team and collaborates with associates in the Marketing & Communications Department to plan, develop and implement programs to effectively communicate and measure progress of Baird’s brand both internally and externally.

This is a hybrid internship, working four days per week in our downtown Milwaukee, WI office and one day remote. The intern must be able to work full time during the summer, 37.5-40 hours per week, and work part time during the school semesters, 15-20 hours per week. We are seeking a local student who can start in May 2026.

The Impact You’ll Make:

  • Track coverage across Baird’s earned media program and properly measure impact against key business and firm strategies

  • Assist with Baird’s overall media relations efforts, helping create news releases and other media correspondence, developing media lists, coordinating reprints

  • Support the generation of PR and Communications reports by leveraging dashboards from trackers

  • Partner with operations on strategic initiatives to support continuous improvement projects across Corporate Communications

  • Coordinate relevant news postings to Baird’s websites and social media accounts

  • Conduct research for media relations purposes

  • Prioritize media inquiries and fulfill reporter requests

  • Manage the creation and execution of internal news stories

  • Assist with communications and media relations efforts for community involvement and sponsorship opportunities as appropriate (ex. Baird Gives Back Week)

  • Actively participate in monthly Public Relations team and Marketing & Communications department meetings and internal client meetings

  • Help ensure public relations approach and messages are consistent with Baird’s practices, culture and brand

  • Perform other duties in support of team, department and firm projects and activities

What You’ll Bring to Baird:

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications or journalism

  • Anticipated graduation date of May 2027 or later

  • Completed course work in one or more of the following: public relations, journalism, communications

  • Passion for working with the media and communicating through written word

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to connect clearly and professionally

  • Skilled in writing, editing and proofing

  • Organizational excellence, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities, demonstrate strong attention to detail and ensure high-quality and on-time delivery

  • High level of motivation, proactivity and strategic thinking, with a strong commitment to learning and contributing effectively

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products

  • Experience with Critical Mention, Cision or another media-monitoring service is a plus

  • Prior PR experience is preferred
