The internship will take place June 1st-August 7th 2026. Interns will be scheduled to work 30-40 hours per week, Mon-Fri business hours. This is a remote, work from home position. Remote work is currently only approved for residents living in the following states: AL, AK, AR, AZ, DE, FL, GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, LA, KS, KY, ME, MI, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NM, NV, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WI, WV, WY.
Pay Range
$20.00 - $20.00This Internship provides practical work experiences to college students assigned to the system Public Consumer Experience department that supports Advocate Health’s organizational strategies. The intern will be exposed to a variety of areas in the social media field such as: content creation, community management, design, writing copy, video creation, analytics and more. This function supports the alignment of business objectives with team members and management in designated business units. The department will further develop specific job standards and guidelines for the internship role.
Major Responsibilities:
- Produce social media posts for Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest, including graphics, written content, videos, etc.
- Monitor social media activity on Advocate's branded accounts, including reviews, messages, comments, etc.
- Design graphics for Pinterest and Instagram and infographics for Advocate's brand journalism website, healthenews.
- Assist with social and digital marketing campaign initiatives.
- Boost writing and editorial skills by assisting on a variety of external communications initiatives.
- Enhance business acumen by building relationships with administrative managers, directors and other department members.
- Assist with ideation of social media initiatives.
- Potential to go on-site for social media events, promotions and partnership activations
- Social intern will get exposure and relationship building with vendors.
- Social intern will help develop content and/or translate provided content/messages into compelling, concise, targeted and easy to understand original copy that is appropriate for the audience and communication vehicle,
- including newsletters, video and web.
- Social intern will have opportunities for portfolio development.
- Social intern will ensure copy tone and styles are consistent with visual tone, style and brand guidelines and serves as a proofreader for own work and the work of other copywriters.
- Social intern will get exposure to creative marketing, digital asset creation, art direction, video production, portfolio development, writing copy, storyboard creation, sourcing talent for photo shoots.
- Boost writing and editorial skills by assisting on a variety of external communications initiatives, including writing for Advocate Aurora’s daily health and wellness website, health enews, which involves interviewing and
- interacting with physicians and clinicians on a regular basis.
- Social intern will respond to telephone calls, applicants, emails, visitors, etc.
- Social intern will track and update reports as necessary.
- Social intern will help with administrative duties, assist support staff with meetings, retreats, etc.
- Social intern may participate in the development of programs, processes or applications.
- Social intern will assist in preparing information and research materials; create and maintain presentations.

Education Required:
- Enrolled in an accredited College or University as Incoming Junior or Incoming Senior Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Affairs, Marketing, Brand, or related field.
Experience Required:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Interest in pursuing a career in Public Affairs and Marketing
- Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of information
- They must have strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- They should be customer service-oriented and learn techniques to best serve clients.
- Ability to take direction well, work independently and be motivated self-starters.
- Current enrollment at a regional accredited college or university. Interns are expected to be in the process of obtaining an undergraduate degree as an incoming Junior or Incoming Senior.
- Grade point average of at least 2.5.
- Experience using various computers/software systems including Word, Windows based mainframe
- Demonstrated ability in successfully completing tasks.
- Strong teamwork skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Effective multitasking and prioritization skills.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Excel, MS Word, Outlook.
- Must demonstrate integrity, maturity, dependability, a positive attitude and enthusiasm.
- Sound judgement and decision making ability.
