Job Duties Outlined:
Program Leadership & Administration
- Assist the Program Director in managing the day-to-day operations of the residency program.
- Participate in strategic planning, program development, and implementation of policies and procedures.
- Represent the program in institutional and departmental meetings as designated by the Program Director.
- Lead specific program initiatives (e.g., simulation curriculum, wellness programming, QI/Patient Safety integration).
Resident Education & Development
- Design, implement, and evaluate elements of the residency curriculum, ensuring integration of competency-based education and ACGME milestones.
- Provide academic advising, career guidance, and professional mentorship to residents.
- Conduct resident evaluations, provide formative feedback, and participate in promotion, remediation, and disciplinary processes.
- Lead teaching sessions, simulation training, journal clubs, and other core educational activities.
Accreditation & Compliance
- Support the Program Director in preparation for accreditation site visits and program reviews.
- Assist in maintaining program records, evaluations, and documentation required for accreditation compliance.
- Participate in and may chair committees such as the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC) and Program Evaluation Committee (PEC).
Faculty & Institutional Engagement
- Collaborate with faculty to enhance teaching effectiveness, mentorship, and scholarly productivity.
- Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and retention of residents and faculty.
- Build and strengthen relationships with institutional and community partners that support residency training.
Scholarly & Professional Activity
- Engage in scholarly activity in medical education, quality improvement, or clinical research, modeling professional growth for residents.
- Contribute to academic presentations, publications, or national society participation relevant to emergency medicine education.
- Maintain clinical practice in emergency medicine, modeling clinical excellence and professionalism.
Work Environment:
- This position is benefits eligible at .5 FTE (20 hours per week).
- Located at Wesley Medical Center.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- M.D. or D.O. degree or foreign degree equivalent
- Board certification in Emergency Medicine.
This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position.The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements, institutional standards of academic and professional excellence, alignment with peer institution benchmarks, and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.
Experience:
- Minimum of two years of clinical experience in Emergency Medicine post-residency.
- Demonstrated interest and experience in medical education, curriculum development, or academic scholarship.
