Technology Internship Details

Basic Qualifications:
Required:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer and Information Science or Engineering, Data Analytics, Geographic Information Science, Information Systems, Mathematics or a similar degree
- Must have completed your freshman year of college.
- Graduation date of December 2026 or later.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- This position is not eligible for sponsorship, OPT, or CPT.
Preferred:
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Genuine interest in the electric utility sector, energy efficiency, and sustainability practices.
- Effective time management skills.
- Ability to work in person 5 days a week in the greater Columbus region
Day in the Life of an AEP Technology Intern:
As a Technology intern at AEP, you’ll play a vital role in shaping the future of energy. Your contributions will bring fresh perspectives and innovative solutions that impact our teams and the communities we serve. Here are some of the responsibilities you may take on:
- Collaboration: Working with cross-functional teams on various technology initiatives and projects.
- Data Analysis: Assisting in analyzing operational data to identify trends.
- Project/Task Coordination and Reporting: Help track and facilitate the completion of projects and tasks through reports, presentations, and other communication methods.
- Research Projects: Supporting research and development of new technologies, such as renewable energy solutions or smart grid technologies.
- Software Development: Supporting the development or enhancement of software applications used for tasks such as grid management, customer service, or billing.
- System Maintenance: Helping with the maintenance and troubleshooting of IT systems and applications.
- Technical Documentation: Creating or updating documentation for systems, processes, and projects.
- Test Strategy Execution: Participate in testing cycles for ongoing projects.
